Friend of mine from Whitesburg got divorced, joint custody. Kids live with the mother, they get dressed by mom and fed by mom, but he saw them a lot. Them mom re-married and the new husband says he can't make a living here so now his kids are gonna be in Georgia, he can still see them when he wants, only he has got to cover all the travel costs, can't have the kids missing school, he isn't gonna be able to miss a lot of work to go south and hang out with them either. And this judge says it is OK to leave the state with the children, even though it PLAINLY states neither of them can leave the state without the consent of the other and approval of the court. If you are talking about Joey Carico, former County Prosecutor, he's from Wise, graduated from J.J. Kelly and UVA-Wise.
I think he is Sportsman. I'm really not sure. Just heard the name was being tossed around to replace Judge Fulton. Joey was the only one i could think of at the time, but i wasn't sure. I was surprised that Wise County hadn't had a judge to hold a judge seat in so long.
Last time i was by the court house to check on some taxes they had people furious, because they had no judge and people had court dates, and simple traffic fines and there was no one to hear the cases. I think one judge finally come from Lee or Scott Co. to hear cases and got there a little after noon. Some of the people had been there since 9am.
Im not looking to lay off a lot of blame on no body. But they can do better than that. Some folks had to reshuffle their whole day to stay there till late. Now had it been the other way around and they had been late for court. Well most judges would of jumped them.
I just think they need to re-organize the court system at Wise a little bit and do something about their docket setup.
lol I am sure that there are a couple....just so happens that the ones most people KNOW aren't.
I was married by a judge. I should have asked for a jury.
